Week 7 : Wiki Wiki

Finally something within learning 2.0 besides Flickr that I was familiar with...Wiki Wiki! I've come across them when I've been looking for information for a trivia night, and Wiki's have been fantastic.

So what else did I learn from the Wiki Learning 2.0 info.

• Wiki comes from the Hawaiian language and means fast or quick.
• The booklovers wiki is a great idea - this would be perfect for putting the library bookgroup discussion folders onto.
• A wiki would also be perfect for a procedures manual - all the unicorn updates and system procedures could be posted, although we'd definitely want to go down the route of having it run on its own server so that the data wasn't vandalised.
• Also I love the Commoncraft demo videos - so clear and easy to understand...very clever.

Week 6 : Tagging, Social Bookmarking

Had a bit of a looksee at the Del.icio.us website and the different tags and comments. I found the site quite confusing to begin with but after watching the Youtube video - Social bookmarking in plain English, it started to make sense. For people who bookmark a lot of sites I could see that this would be a valuable tool, especially seeing the other sites that people have tagged and get ideas on other useful sites. I personally prefer using my favourites bookmarked on my Web browser at home, as I don't save that many sites.

Week 5 continuted # 11 Library thing and #12 Rollyo

Well I've created yet another user name and password...now to remember them all ;-)
I've made my own library catalogue see books over to the right. I've listed a couple of books I've really enjoyed reading and re-reading over the years.

I've attached a Rollyo (searching on celebrity gossip!!) to this blog - over to the left. I will no longer need to read my trash mags, I can just search on my Rollyo :-)

I'm not really convinced that the Library Thing is that useful, its a cute idea but not something I'd revisit. Rollyo on the other hand would be great for libraries, particularly special libraries who had particular topics they were always researching.

Week 5 : Play Week - Image Generator

Week 4 RSS Feeds and Blogline

Okay my blogline account is now set up....must remember yet another password!

I've heard of RSS before and seen it on some of the sites I visit but haven't really investigated much further than that. There is just so much technology and information on the web, impossible to keep up with so I can see how this RSS feed could come in handy. My problem is finding the time to read it all!!!
